The Jets Film Series

So apparently the secret behind the jets success is: film clips! Apparently Mangini discovered what countless trendy youth pastors have known for years: short inspirational clips is what's gonna motivate people. Early last week, Mangini showed his team clips from the Ice Bowl in an attempt to de-mystify the whole lambeau experience. Then, last saturday, he showed his team the fight of Aaron Pryor against Alexis Arguello. He said he wanted to show that a little opponent could win through a sheer act of will. In Cole's own words, "He gets us looking at the big picture. Like, here's a guy who nobody had faith in, or here's a guy in a situation where he's supposed to win and he ends up in a dogfight." So, I imagine, before the new england game, he showed him that training montage from Rocky IV, cause the Jets are a bunch of blue-collar kids looking to go the distance, while the patriots are a bunch of steroid-taking communists. I can see where Mangini is coming from, I'm hoping in the future, I'm gonna be able to take out my phone and show movie clips to prove my point.

And it may seem strange to you people out there, but Schiano passing up the miami coaching job to stay in new jersery, quite literally a decision that could cost him millions. Hey man, the guy has a vision of where he thinks the team can go, and that strange pride in new jersey. It's kinda something that never sat right with me. Whenever these big sports contracts are floating around, any player seems to get a free pass just because there's more money. First of all, can anyone really feel the difference between 8 million a year and 11 million a year? And second of all, I mean, isn't there anything else in your life that you care more about than money? Maybe you won't like playing ball in arizona, maybe you don't wanna live there on a routine basis, maybe the team is a bunch of jokers and there's no unity. I kinda appreciate the patriots syndrome, people taking pay-cuts just so they can have a pretty good shot at a superbowl ring. Still, bellicheck probably doesn't show movie clips.
